Façade Improvement Grant
In September the Chamber of Commerce announced the Façade Improvement Grant provided by funds Heartland Bank received from a regional bank program that had been intended to support loans for façade improvements and downtown revitalization projects. Although that program has since ended, some funds remain and Heartland Bank would like to see them utilized. The Geneva Chamber of Commerce will administer a grant program that will match funds – up to $5,000 – spent on façade improvement projects in downtown Geneva. The goal of the program is to support downtown improvement projects with an emphasis on spending the money with local contractors and suppliers. Interested parties can complete the attached application form and submit it to the Geneva Chamber of Commerce for review and approval. Approved projects will be eligible for up to $5,000 of matching funds for projects, which would be paid to the contractor/supplier upon completion of the project. Matching funds are limited, so please complete applications quickly while funding is available. For more information about this program please contact Angela at 402-759-1155.
10th Annual China Luncheon
The 10th Annual China Luncheon was held on Saturday, November 5th at the Fillmore County Fairgrounds. Decorating preparations began Thursday evening with moving the stage and setting up tables. On Friday morning members of the committee began to transform the inside of the Ag Hall into the train themed event. Hostesses were invited to begin decorating their tables on Friday afternoon while the committee continued prepping for the event. Jill’s Sweet Shop catered the event while A Little Inspiration provided floral arrangements and plants to be placed throughout the hall. Doors opened at 10 AM with guests delighted to see how the Ag Hall had transformed for this annual event. 206 tickets were sold for the 27 tables decorated. This year’s theme, Sentimental Journey, allowed hostesses to decorate their table as they please. The event included details from past China Luncheons, highlighting those who have hosted tables and helped plan the event in the past. Cumberland’s Fashions and Weaver Pharmacy provided a fashion show after the meal. During the event guests were invited to take a look at the Silent Auction table. Several Chamber Members donated items to be auctioned off with proceeds going to the Backpack Program. The event raised a total of $870 for the backpack program! Thank you to everyone who helped make this event so successful!
